WOW!!! Two Pines is such a gem!! We have been blown away by the high quality of every day for our daughter at school here. The teachers are a very special combination of deep thinkers on educational principles and incredibly warm human beings. We feel so so lucky that our daughter is in such a loving environment where her development is so carefully considered.
While I’ve heard from friends that many toddlers resist going to school, our daughter can’t wait to go every day and is disappointed on days school is not in session. My parenting is improved by watching our teachers. I mean i could go on and on because I can’t believe we found a school that is this enriching to our and our daughter’s lives.
I know some people worry about rainy days, i was a bit worried she would be cold. Basic gear has kept her warm and it’s been a non issue and i love that she has no concept of bad weather and is open to a joyful experience every day.
Another perk of forest school?? Almost no sickness!

A Day at Our School

1- Mindful Circle

We start the day with simple yoga, breath work and meditation. Sending awareness to our bodies and present moment, setting intentions for the day!

Everyday activities follow the nature play cycle, adults might initiate an activity through story telling or questions and then let the children to direct and be in charge of their own dialogue. There's a productive back and forth between adults and children.

2- Exploration

We then start to move and explore the forest, letting our creative capacity to "drop in" and relax into playfully engaging in a nondirectional flow of emerging events.

We do not use commercial toys but rather take advantage of the abundance that forest has to offer. Using nature's resources as tools for play sparks creativity and problem-solving. Children learn to adapt, innovate, and find endless possibilities in the world around them.

Art is not just an activity but an ongoing "process" of creation, experimentation, exploration, decision making, problem solving, adding, subtracting, or modifying elements, open-minded material, recyclables and loose parts. our Maker's Space is a daily space designated to engage in this artistic process.

Children learn to take risks and develop self-esteem. They're always encouraged to take care of
1) Themselves
2) E
ach other
3) The Earth and its living creatures.

Science is naturally part of our curriculum. Children will learn about the environment, forest ecosystem, plants and animals through everyday hands on experiences, exploration and discovery.

3- Storytelling + Reflection

We always have time for stories, as children learn through stories and play. Story time is either in the beginning of the day if we want to reenact the story in our play/theatre or at the end of the day.
Afterwards we'll spend some time reflecting on the day, feelings, thoughts and achievements.

We always end the day with music and a circle of silly free style dance!

Our inner child is alive and thriving, guiding us to embrace the joy and wonder that nature brings. With a playful, experimental and mindful approach, we strive to ignite the imaginations of young children, encouraging them to get in touch with the forest spirit, explore new realms,  and express themselves with boundless freedom. At our forest school, we believe in the transformative power of laughter and whimsy, infusing our teaching with a touch of humor that sparks inspiration and fosters a love for learning.
